Celebrating our Heritage Heroes

MoSR Youth Group and Conservation Crew achieve nationally recognised awards.
In 2024, we rolled out a series of workshops on object care and heritage hand skills with generous support from Industrial Museum Scotland’s ‘Powering Our People’ project. This year, 10 young colleagues who engaged with the sessions have now achieved their ‘Heritage Heroes’ award through Archaeology Scotland. This is a nationally recognized qualification which can help them to further a career in the heritage field.
Other members of MoSR’s Youth Group achieved Recognition of Volunteering awards from CVS Falkirk and District.

An expanded program for young volunteers
Our multidisciplinary team consisting of youth leaders, teachers, and museum colleagues are now working together to expand the program, and offer projects and accredited qualifications to a broader range of ages.
Across the summer, our younger youth group members are working on conservation of, and research into, workshop patterns to help redisplay the Steaming Ahead Workshop gallery. Meanwhile, our older participants are restoring Matisa No.48626 in collaboration with our S&T Department.
We are excited and proud to see everyone being welcomed into the wider Society, challenging themselves, and tackling increasingly complex and rewarding tasks.
