Five Line Societies Fair 2025

This year, the nation marks 200 years since the birth of the modern railway.
On the anniversary weekend of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, the Scottish Line Societies are coming together at the Museum to celebrate the achievements of the companies who laid the tracks that changed our world.
- Meet the people preserving the history of Scotland’s railways, explore new research, and sign up for membership.
- View lovingly restored, full-size vehicles from all the pre-Grouping companies.
- Explore our Railway200 exhibition showing the evolution of Scottish rail travel and the way it transformed the country.
- Enjoy the sight of fully signalled trains running through delightful scenery based on the Sidmouth line as we welcome guest model railway, Cadhay Sidings.
Plus, visit the Gauge ‘O ‘model railway group who will be running trains from the days of the Caledonian, Great North of Scotland, Glasgow & South Western, Highland and North British Railways across the weekend. Come and experience all the colours of the pre Grouping railway and get a glimpse of what life along the lines was like in the earliest days of steam in Scotland.
All are welcome. The event will take place between 11.00 and 3.30 on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free with your museum entry ticket.
