Looking to the future

Youth Group members join our museum committee and new funding to support new volunteers

From November, for the first time, we will be inviting young colleagues from our youth group to join us as associate members of our Museum and Collections Committee. Selected individuals will come along to our meetings to report on their work, share their views on our projects, and add valuable insight and perspective as we develop our museum for a new generation. We will be supporting everyone who takes up this significant challenge with advice and accredited training to help them thrive in their new roles and develop sound and prudent practices. These skills will help them to contribute to the life of the Society for years to come.

Meanwhile, younger youth group members have an exciting new opportunity of their own to look forward to. Liz has secured £10,000 in funding to pay for a part time youth leader to support young volunteers through their Duke of Edinburgh awards. This high profile qualification will run into 2026 and focuses on developing valuable employability skills.
